The Western Snowy Plover is a threatened shorebird breeding on Humboldt County beaches. For the last several years, the population has been steadily growing thanks to recovery efforts by local consultants, land managers, and Humboldt State University researchers. Lizzie heads up the Western Snowy Plover survey project at HSU and will give a short presentation on the local plover population before heading to Clam Beach and possibly Little River State BBeach. Bring a spotting scope if you have one and be prepared to walk up to 1 mile over soft sand.
