Join BLM Interpretive Specialist and a wildlife biologist as they talk about the importance of the off-shore rocks that are part of the California Coastal National Monument (CCNM) to the seabirds that come and nest every year. We will hike the 1.24 mile Trinidad head loop trail, check the tide pools at Indian Beach, then end up at the Trinidad Head Lighthouse, a small tower perched on a 175 foot shelf above sea level. The Lighthouse is still active, with a LED beacon mounted outside the lantern room. The 144-year-old lighthouse was transferred from the U. S. Coast Guard into public ownership and the Bureau of Land Management in 2014. This event is great for the whole family.
