SA41 School Road (Baduwa’t) Restoration Area – NEW | 2023 | $20
Time - 8:30 am - 12:30 pm
Trip Leader(s): Mary Burke and Cliff Feldheim
In recent years, the “School Road Trail” has become a popular birding location for migrant songbirds, mostly in the fall. This past year has seen a lot of changes, with a major restoration involving creating a new channel through the general area to benefit salmonids. New trails are being added and native plants are being planted, so it should prove to be very interesting to see what birds are present and how the restoration has influenced them. If time allows, the McKinleyville Bottoms adjacent to the location will be checked – a location that has had its fair share of interesting birds in recent years. Sturdy footwear is recommended; walking should be easy but some parts may be damp, so plan accordingly. Scopes are very useful for the McKinleyville Bottoms portion. Restrooms not available at this location.
MEETING LOCATION: Arcata Community Center Lobby
