Enjoy the dynamic dunes ecosystem and associated rare and endangered plants. Formerly a Nature Conservancy property, the dunes are now part of the Humboldt Bay National Wildlife Refuge. The coastal spruce forest supports flocks of chickadees and Wrentits. Terrain is sandy, steeply undulating; wear closed-toed shoes. Dress in layers, bring a lunch/snack and something to drink.
